Entrances & Exits for September 2013

The role changes and transitions taking place at theatre’s across the country this month.

Kristen Palmer is the new artistic director at Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater in Connecticut. She was formerly a member of Printer’s Devil Theater in Seattle.

Kenneth Prestininzi is the new artistic director of Brown/Trinity Playwrights Rep in Rhode Island. He is the former associate chair of playwriting at the Yale School of Drama.

Brandon Ray has begun his tenure as artistic director of Chicago’s Red Tape Theatre. He was previously the inaugural artistic director of the local New Leaf Theatre.

New Century Theater Company in Seattle has a new managing director: Kayti Barnett. She takes over for Jamie Herlich, who has served as acting managing director since 2011.

Arizona Theatre Company artistic director David Ira Goldstein announced that he will be retiring in December, after 21 years as head of the theatre. In addition, managing director Mark Cole will step down from his post in October, after two years at ATC.

Redmoon Theater in Chicago has a new managing director: Sophia Wong Boccio. Her experience includes co-running two not-for-profits simultaneously: She served as managing director of Chicago International Film Festival and executive director of Fulcrum Point New Music Project.

J.R. Sullivan has left the Pearl Theatre Company in New York City, where he had been artistic director since 2009. Kate Farrington has been appointed interim artistic director.

Mara Isaacs, producing director of McCarter Theatre Center, stepped down from her position in June to launch her company Octopus Theatricals LLC. Isaacs joined McCarter in 1995 and will remain on as a consultant.

Chicago Dramatists managing director Brian Loevner has resigned, in order to focus more on his theatre company Chicago Commercial Collective. He joined Dramatists in 2004.

Taryn Sacramone has stepped down as executive director of the Astoria Performing Arts Center in New York. She is the new managing director at the Queens Theatre.
