Sarah Bellamy, playwright, director and educator, has been promoted from associate director to co-artistic director of the Penumbra Theatre, the country’s largest African-American theatre company, in St. Paul, Minn. Bellamy will serve alongside her father, current artistic director and founder Lou Bellamy, for the next three years before becoming the sole artistic director.

After 45 years at the helm,  Michael Price is stepping down as executive director of Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, Conn., at the end of the year. During his tenure, Price produced more than 235 musicals, 75 of them world premieres, and sent 19 Goodspeed shows to Broadway. The theatre’s board of trustees has begun searching for a new executive director.

Adam Bernstein has stepped in as the new executive director of the New Group in New York City. Bernstein previously spent 11 years at the nearby Signature Theatre, where he was most recently the general manager. He succeeds Geoff Rich, who has resigned, after 12 years at the theatre, to concentrate more on his radio production business.

Ars Nova NYC  has announced that Renee Blinkwolt will be the company’s new managing director, replacing Jeremy Blocker, who was recently named managing director of New York Theatre Workshop. Blinkwolt was previously the producing director of the Playwrights Realm, where she increased the company’s budget by 25 percent.

In downtown Manhattan, Michael Counts has joined 3-Legged Dog as the creative director of 3LD Special Projects Group. Counts will work in an executive capacity at the space, overseeing special commissioned projects and events, and contributing to 3LD’s strategic financial planning.

Freelance director and educator Joanna Settle  has been appointed director of the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Settle has directed and taught at the Juilliard School, Bard College, Cornell University and Brown/Trinity MFA.
