Walnut Street Theatre Announces 2015-16 Season

The oldest theatre in America will present ‘High Society,’ ‘Sister Act,’ ‘Harvey’ and ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ next season.

PHILADELPHIA: Walnut Street Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2015–16 season. It will open with Cole Porter’s musical High Society (Sept. 8–Oct. 25). For the holidays, the theatre will produce A Christmas Story, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s musical based on the 1983 film (Nov. 10–Jan. 10).

Next up will be Mary Chase’s Pulitzer-winning comedy Harvey (Jan. 19–March 6), and finally Peter and the Starcatcher, Rick Elice’s Peter Pan prequel (March 15–May 1). The final production of the season will be the musical Sister Act (May 17–July 17).

Founded in 1809, Walnut Street Theatre is America’s oldest theatre and the the official state theatre of Pennsylvania. The 2015–16 season will be the Walnut’s 33rd season as a not-for-profit producing theatre.
