This week’s guest is Native American playwright and actress Larissa Fasthorse, who discusses her new play ‘Landless’ from Alter Theater, and how to be a playwright without an MFA.

Every other week, the editors of American Theatre curate a free-ranging discussion about the lively arts.

This week, AT associate editor Diep Tran sits down with Native American playwright and actor Larissa Fasthorse to talk about her play Landless (a production by Alter Theater, currently running at American Conservatory Theatre). They also discuss how to become a playwright without an MFA, going from ballet dancing to playwriting and occupying the Native American slot during a season.

Also, Rob, Suzy and Diep discuss the ever-developing Los Angeles 99-seat Equity debacle and the Colorado New Play Summit (going on this weekend and next).

This week’s recommendations: Kris Vire’s drunken sit-down interview with Nathan Lane and Brian Dennehy, Tony Kushner’s love letter to Eugene O’Neill and The Last Five Years film (just in time for Valentine’s Day)!
