Cara Mía Promotes Ariana Cook to Managing Director

The longtime Dallas theatre artist, who’s worked with the Latino/Chicano theatre for a year, will join the leadership team with a.d. David Lozano.

DALLAS: Cara Mía Theatre Company has announced the promotion of Ariana Cook to managing director of the company; she joined the organization just one year ago as its administrative director.

“I am thrilled about this new position and the opportunity to help Cara Mía to continue it’s growth as we approach our 20th season,” Cook said in a statement. “I believe in Cara Mía’s mission and look forward to expanding this important work throughout North Texas.”

Cook is a director, actress and administrator who has worked at Undermain Theatre in Dallas and the Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, Tex. In her time at Cara Mía Theatre Co., Cook streamlined box-office procedures and donor/patron management, reorganized bookkeeping practices and introduced time- and labor-saving policies for all operations. She also helped create a new reading series at community libraries in conjunction with staff members from the Dallas Library.

She will work alongside executive artistic director David Lozano. Cara Mía Theatre Co. is a nonprofit theatre founded in 1996 whose mission is to broaden appreciation and understanding of Chicano and Latino culture through theatre, literature and educational programs.
