Arvada Center Announces 2015–16 Season

Katori Hall’s ‘The Mountaintop’, as well as a George Brant world premiere and two regional premieres, are on the theatre’s six-show slate.

ARVADA, COLO.: For its 2015–16 season, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities announced a lineup of three plays and three musicals, including Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop and the regional premieres of Death Takes a Holiday and Saturday Night Fever, the company announced.

“As I started considering our upcoming season, the theme of generations became clear,” said artistic producer Rod A. Lansberry in a statement. “With each production, you will be drawn into different points in history, a world of your past or your present with all the memories and experiences that have shaped our lives.”

The season opens with the regional premiere of Saturday Night Fever (Sept. 15–Oct. 4), directed by Lansberry and adapted for the stage by Robert Stigwood in collaboration with Bill Oakes from the film by Nik Cohn.

Next up, Creede Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of George Brant’s Good On Paper (Sept. 25–Oct. 25), and following that, another musical based on a film, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (Nov. 20–Dec. 23). Gavin Mayer will direct the musical, which has a book by  David Ives and Paul Blake.

Jeffrey Hatcher’s Mrs. Mannerly (Jan. 22–Feb. 21, 2016), the first show of the new year, will be directed by Edith Weiss. Following that, Mayer will direct Hall’s The Mountaintop (March 22–April 17, 2016).

Finally, the regional premiere of Death Takes a Holiday (April 22–May 15, 2016) concludes the season. The musical, adapted from an Italian silent film, has songs by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone and Thomas Meehan, and the Arvada production will be directed by Lansberry.
