White Heron Theatre Announces 2015 Summer Season

The season includes Christopher Durang, D.L. Coburn and a playwright yet to be announced.

NANTUCKET, MASS.: White Heron Theatre Company of Nantucket has announced its 2015 season, including a reading, two plays and impromptu pop-up theatre performances around the island. The summer season will take place at the Dreamland Theatre while the White Heron Theatre Company’s new home is being built.

“We are so pleased to be able to work in the Dreamland’s theatres, both in the black box theatre and on their mainstage,” said Michael Kopko, executive director of White Heron, in a statement. “We have had a long history of work on the Dreamland stage and we are happy to be back with a summer season of award-winning plays.”

The season kicks off with the Long Wharf Play Collaboration (July 1–2), featuring a reading of a new play from an established playwright. This year’s featured playwright has not yet be announced.

Following will be D.L. Coburn’s The Gin Game (July 6–22), an intimate look at the game of life through the metaphor of a card game.

The season concludes with Christopher Durang’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Aug. 22–Sept. 9), a comedy about grown siblings and the complications of managing their deceased parent’s estate.
