Performance Network Theatre Announces Season of Premieres

The theatre’s second season with a new management team offers a lineup of world and regional premieres.

ANN ARBOR, MICH.: Performance Network Theatre has announced its 2015–16 season, with five productions and two holiday specials in rotating repertory.

The season begins with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Oct. 1—Nov. 1). Suzi Regan will direct.

Just in time for the holidays will be the Michigan premiere of Tim Rhoze’s Why Not Me? A Sammy Davis Jr. Story (Nov. 24—Dec. 17), about a famous entertainer who reflects on his career just before his death in 1989. Rhoze will direct.

Running in repertory will be Dickens: An A Capella Carol (Nov. 27—Dec. 20), a retelling of the classic tale through a mysterious storyteller and a quartet of holiday carolers.

Next will be the Michigan premiere of Nick Payne’s Constellations (Jan. 14—Feb. 14, 2016), about one relationship with infinite possibilities. Regan will direct.

Following is The Othello Principle (March 10—April 10, 2016), an adaptation by James Bowen and John Manfredi from Shakespeare, about a Venetian soldier who is both a hero and an enemy. Manfredi will direct.

Next will be the world premiere of Annie Martin’s Summer Retreat (May 5—June 5, 2016), about two friends who test their bond when they embark on an unplanned trip to see through a childhood oath. Regan will direct.

Next is the world premiere of Joseph Zettelmaier’s Pulp (June 23—July 24, 2016), a National New Play Network rolling world premiere, about a detective investigating the murder of a literary agent and the pulp fiction writers who top the suspect list. Joey Albright will direct.
