NASHVILLE: Nashville Repertory Theatre has announced that Pulitzer Prize nominee Rebecca Gilman will be the recipient of the upcoming season’s Ingram New Works Playwriting Fellowship. As the 2015–16 fellow, Gilman will mentor four emerging playwrights from the Ingram New Works Lab during a Symposium Week in January, critiquing and guiding their work. Gilman, along with the aforementioned New Works playwrights, will then present their newly composed works at Nashville Rep’s Ingram New Works Festival (May 4–14, 2016).

“There’s nothing like the spark of connecting a new play with a new audience, and the Ingram New Works Project is once again bringing electric new work to Nashville,” said Nashville Rep’s playwright-in-residence, Nate Eppler, in a statement. “We have four dynamic new voices to share and can’t wait to introduce the brilliant work of our playwriting fellow Rebecca Gilman to our audiences. There’s no doubt about it now: the Ingram New Works Project is the most exciting thing in Nashville theatre.”

Gilman, whose playwriting credits include Luna Gale, Boy Gets Girl, and The Glory of Living, for which she was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 2002, is an artistic associate at Goodman Theatre in Chicago and an associate professor of playwriting and screenwriting at Northwestern University. As this year’s Ingram New Works Fellow, she occupies a position formerly held by playwrights David Auburn (Proof), Theresa Rebeck (Fever), and Donald Margulies (Dinner With Friends).
