SEATTLE: Theatre22 has announced its 2016 season, featuring two mainstage productions, a one-act play, and a staged readings series.

The first mainstage production will be the Seattle premiere of Sharr White’s Annapurna (Feb. 19–March 12). Directed by Julie Beckman and starring Teri Lazzara and John Q. Smith, Annapurna depicts a reunion between Ulysses and his wife, Emma, 20 years after their marriage ended.

Scotto Moore’s  one-act play Can’t Talk Right Now (Feb. 23–March 9) will play in rep one night a week with Annapurna. Directed by Katie McKellar, Can’t Talk Right Now will feature Anastasia Higham, Amy Escobar, Jordi Montes, and Jen Moon. The one-act depicts Amanda, a late-night radio show host who attempts to solve a mystery within the voicemails she finds recorded on an answering machine in a thrift shop.

Next  will be the Seattle premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s The Pride (Oct. 28–Nov.18), an exploration of the changing attitudes about sexuality over a period of 50 years told through two love stories. Corey D. McDaniel will direct.

The season will also include with “Construction Zone” (May 11, June 8, Sept. 21, and Nov. 9), a series of four staged readings with post-show discussions copresented with A Contemporary Theatre. One of the plays will be selected to be coproduced by Theatre22 and ACTLab during ACT’s 2017 season.

Founded in 2014, Theatre22 brings audiences and artists together to explore and create new plays.
