CHICAGO: The House Theatre of Chicago has announced its 2016–2017 season, featuring classics and original work.

A Comedical Tragedy for Mister Punch (Sept. 2–Oct. 23), by Kara Davidson, will kick off the season. The play is about a magical puppeteer shop and will be directed by Shade Murray.

Next up is House’s own take on the holiday classic about a young girl’s Christmas Eve dreams, The Nutcracker (Nov. 4–Dec. 30). Tommy Rapley will direct.

Nathan Allen will direct a science-fiction horror adaptation (Jan. 13–March 5, 2017), which will be announced at a later date.

The final play will be Phillip Klapperich’s The Great and Terrible Wizard of Oz (March 17–May 7, 2017), an adaptation of the classic novel by L. Frank Baum.

The House Theatre of Chicago was founded in 2001 and produces original work. It is currently partnering with The Palmer House on the open ended run of  the magic show The Magical Parlour.
