Vineyard Theatre Announces 3 New Works for 2016–17 Season

The Off-Broadway house programs a new John Kander musical, a new play by Gina Gionfriddo, and a Nicky Silver world premiere.

NEW YORK CITY: The Vineyard Theatre has announced its 2016–17 season, which will feature three new works, including a Nicky Silver world premiere.

The season will open in September with Kid Victory, a new musical from John Kander and Gregory Pierce (dates to be announced). Liesl Tommy will direct this work about 17-year-old Luke who returns to his small Kansas town after disappearing for a year. The work is a coproduction with Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va.

The spring of 2017 will contain the world premiere of Nicky Silver’s This Day Forward (dates to be announced). The playwright will reunite with director Mark Brokaw, who directed Silver’s The Lyons on Broadway. The play is about a man who discovered a life-changing secret from his new bride, and the effects the secret has on their children.

The Vineyard’s season will conclude with Gina Gionfriddo’s play Can You Forgive Her (dates to be announced). Peter DuBois, who helmed the work in its world premiere at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, will direct. The work follows a desperate woman who takes up with a couple of strangers.

The Vineyard is an Off-Broadway theatre dedicated to new plays.
