Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte Is Searching for a New Home

Despite an initial announcement of a new venue, the theatre is once again looking for a new location.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.: The Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte (ATC) is looking for a new home, as their lease at 650 E. Stonewall St., where the company has been located for 12 years, expires in 2 weeks. Previous plans to move into the former Kellogg Snack Factory fell through because ATC was “unable to come to lease terms” with the developer, a note on the theatre’s website explains.

“We are in desperate need of major financial support to find a new location,” artistic director Chip Decker told The Charlotte Observer. “We’re scrambling right now; we’re up against the wall.”

The company is still planning to produce its 2016-17 season, with the goal of staging two shows in the fall. The company will announce new dates and locations for the shows in the coming weeks. The season is set to include American IdiotStupid F@#%ing Bird, and Hand to God.
