Taproot Theatre Company Announces 2017 Season

The season explores the pursuit of truth, love, and hope with plays and musicals.

SEATTLE: Taproot Theatre Company has announced its 2017 season, including three world premieres, a murder mystery, and a comedy.

The season will begin with Room Service (Feb. 1- March 4, 2017), by John Murray and Allen Boretz, about a theatrical troupe chasing their Broadway dreams.

Next will be the world premiere of Katie Forgette’s Evidence of Things Unseen (March 29-April 29, 2017), a family drama about two sisters caring for their father and experiencing loss.

The season will continue with Busman’s Honeymoon (May 17-June 17, 2017), by Dorothy L. Sayers and M. St. Clare Byrne, a murder mystery about a body that is discovered in a newlywed couple’s basement.

Following will be the world premiere of Persuasion (July 12-Aug. 19, 2017), adapted by Harold Taw from Jane Austen, and featuring music and lyrics by Chris Jeffries. The musical follows a young Englishwoman and her efforts to climb social classes and find love.

The season will conclude with the world premiere of Mark St. Germain’s Relativity (Sept. 20- Oct. 21, 2017), about a reporter who unveils secrets about Albert Einstein in 1948, including information about his mysterious daughter. The play is a National New Play Network rolling world premiere.
