NEW YORK CITY: Roundabout Theatre Company has announced its 2017-18 Off-Broadway season, including two commissions by Roundabout Underground alumni.

The season will begin with Anna Ziegler’s The Last Match (Sept. 28- Dec. 24), about two tennis players facing the match of their lives at the semifinals of the U.S. Open. Gaye Taylor Upchurch will direct.

Following will be the world premiere of Lindsey Ferrentino’s Amy and the Orphans (Feb. 1- April 22, 2018), about two siblings who reconnect with their sister, who has Down syndrome, after the death of their father. Scott Ellis will direct.

Next up will be the world premiere of Skintight (May 24- Aug. 26, 2018), by Joshua Harmon, about a divorcée who turns to her famous designer father after her husband leaves her for a much younger woman. Daniel Aukin will direct.

The first play of the 2017-18 Roundabout Underground season will be Too Heavy For Your Pocket, by Jiréh Breon Holder, about a 20-year-old who gives up a college scholarship to join the Freedom Riders in 1961.

One additional Roundabout Underground play will be announced at a later date. The Roundabout Underground program provides artistic and financial resources to emerging playwrights to stage their first New York production. Participating playwrights also receive a commission for a future play.

Roundabout Theatre Company, founded in 1965, develops new work and produces classic plays and musicals on its five stages on and Off Broadway.
