Actors Theatre of Louisville Announces 2017-18 Season

The season will include new works, holiday favorites, and a new-play festival.

LOUISVILLE, KY: Actors Theatre of Louisville has announces its 2017-18 season, featuring eight productions and a new-play festival.

The season will begin with Tony Kushner’s Angels in America Part One: Millennium Approaches in repertory with Part Two: Perestroika (Aug. 29-Oct. 14), an examination of how history impacts individual lives during the AIDS crisis and a time of intense social change. Meredith McDonough will direct.

Following will be the return of Dracula (Sept. 6-Nov. 2), adapted and directed by William McNulty.

Just in time for the holidays will be the return of A Christmas Carol (Nov. 21-Dec. 23), adapted by Barbara Field from Charles Dickens. Drew Fracher will direct.

Also part of the holiday lineup will be The Santaland Diaries (Dec. 1-23), by David Sedaris, about a grumpy elf’s experience working at Macy’s during the holiday season. McDonough will direct.

Following will be Anne Washburn’s Little Bunny Foo Foo (Jan. 9-Feb. 4, 2018), an eclectic re-imagining of the children’s tale set to music by Dave Malloy. Les Waters will direct.

Next will be Dominique Morisseau’s Skeleton Crew (Jan. 24- Feb. 11, 2018), about a makeshift family of workers in Detroit’s auto industry during the 2008 recession.

The season will conclude with the 42nd Humana Festival of New American Plays (Feb. 28-April 8, 2018), which will be announced in this fall.

Actors Theatre of Louisville, founded in 1964, presents both classic and contemporary works, and mounts a new-play festival each spring.
