Pillsbury House Theatre Names 2017 Naked Stages Fellows

The fellowship will include a seven-month residency and a mentorship with Daniel Alexander Jones.

MINNEAPOLIS: Pillsbury House Theatre has announced the recipients of the 2017 Naked Stages Fellowship. The fellows were selected by a panel of past Naked Stages recipients and other artists including Christina Ham, Katie Ka Vang, and Stephanie Rogers. This year’s recipients are Antonio Duke, Ritika Ganguly, and Jessica Lopez Lyman.

The participants will develop new work as part of a seven-month residency at the theatre. The program mentor for this year will be playwright Daniel Alexander Jones.

Duke will develop Ashes of Moons, an examination of adoption and motherlessness through spoken word poetry, African mask work, and hip-hop dance,

Ganguly’s project will bring Baul, a musical style from Bengal, to the stage as a method of storytelling.

Lyman will develop Casa de Papel, an interdisciplinary installation that explores Chicanx rituals based on her family’s stories.
