Shayna Schlosberg Named Catastrophic’s Managing Director

Schlosberg will leave the Alley Theatre to help run another Houston company.

HOUSTON: Catastrophic Theatre has named Shayna Schlosberg to be its new managing director. Schlosberg replaces Paul Brockman, who was in the position for two years. She will start on June 26.

“We are unanimous in our enthusiasm for what Shayna will bring to the theatre,” founding artistic director Jason Nodler said in a statement. “She possesses the ideal skills, education, and experience to lead us as Catastrophic makes the leap from small theatre to midsized one—or, to put it differently, as the theatre becomes an institution without becoming institutional. Shayna is a breath of fresh air and we feel so lucky to have her joining us. We look forward to many years of strategic growth under her leadership.”

Schlosberg is currently the associate general manager of the Alley Theatre, where she has been for three years. She was involved in the Alley’s international programming and produced Remote Houston from Berlin-based theatre collective Rimini Protokoll. She has a B.F.A. from New York University and a master’s in international arts management from Southern Methodist University and HEC Montreal.

“I am honored to be joining Jason Nodler and Tamarie Cooper in leading the Catastrophic Theatre into its next phase of growth,” said Schlosberg in a statement. “Ever since I was first introduced to their work as a student at HSPVA, I have admired the daring and groundbreaking theatre these artists have brought to Houston. The Catastrophic Theatre has already had a remarkable impact both locally and nationally as a small organization; I’m very excited to see what the theatre will accomplish as we embark on the path towards becoming a midsize organization.”
