Quantum Theatre 2017-18 Season to Feature 2 World Premieres

The season will feature a collaboration with En Garde Arts and a play by a local playwright.

PITTSBURGH: Quantum Theatre has announced its 2017-18 season, which will feature a world premiere, a classic, and a new play by a local playwright. The theatre specializes in staging plays in site-specific locations.

The season will open with the world premiere of Red Hills (Aug. 18-Sept. 10), a collaboration between Quantum and En Garde Arts. The play follows two men, American author David Zosia and a Rwandan man named God’s Blessing, who witnessed the Rwandan genocide as teenagers and are now reflecting back on the event. The production will be staged at the Recycling Building at 32nd and Smallman Street in the Strip District.

Next up will be Tom Stoppard’s The Hard Problem (Oct. 27-Nov. 19), about a brain science researcher struggling to define consciousness. Rachel Stevens will direct. The location will be announced at a later date.

The final show of the season will be the world premiere of Pittsburgh playwright Gab Cody’s Inside Passage (March 2-25), a play using documentary, film, and music to tell the playwright’s personal story of reconnecting with her siblings after her parents split up. The location will be announced at a later date.

Quantum Theatre produces intimate theatrical experiences in uncommon settings.
