American Theatre Wing Announces 2015 National Theatre Company Grants

Twelve companies have received $10,000 grants, among them Portland Playhouse, Serenbe Playhouse, and the NOLA Project.

NEW YORK CITY: American Theatre Wing has announced the 12 recipients of its 2015 National Theatre Company Grants. Each company receives $10,000.

This year’s recipients are 1st Stage (Tysons, Va.), Bag&Baggage Productions (Hillsboro, Ore.), Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (Boulder, Colo.), Congo Square Theatre Company (Chicago, Ill.), Kansas City Actors Theatre (Kansas City, Mo.), Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company (Houston, Tex.), the NOLA Project (New Orleans, La.), Portland Playhouse (Portland, Ore.), San Francisco Playhouse (San Francisco, Calif.), Serenbe Playhouse (Chattahoochee Hills, Ga.), Theater Alliance (Washington, D.C.), and Tipping Point Theatre (Northville, Mich.).

“These twelve theatre companies have proven themselves integral to the fabric of their respective communities, and are furthering the national cultural conversation in exciting ways,” said Marva Smalls, chair of the National Theatre Company Grants committee, in a statement.

The grants will be presented on Monday, Sept. 21 at a private event. The ATW Grants (including the National Theatre Company and Jonathan Larson grants) have distributed over $3 million during the past 59 years.
