    I applaud
American Theatre’s recognition of theatre being created and performed in
museums, but question Diep Tran’s description of this kind of work as new. In
addition to the Autry’s theatre program, many museums around the world have been
staging theatre in their galleries and spaces in true collaborative projects, and
not as the article suggests, merely for the use of performance space. This work
is often breathtaking and boundary-breaking, and it is disheartening to say the
least that Tran did not dig a bit deeper and discover the rich tradition which
The Civilian’s project at the Met follows. The Met should also find out what
its neighbors and colleagues are up to. Thank you.
