Steep Theatre Announces 2015–16 Season

Writers from either side of the pond—Hamish Linklater, Sam Hunter, Simon Stephens, and Laura Wede—fill a season of premieres.

CHICAGO: Steep Theatre has announced its 2015–16 season, including two U.S. premieres, a world premiere, and a regional premiere.

The season begins with the world premiere of Hamish Linklater’s The Cheats (Oct. 2–Nov. 7), about a man who spies on his neighbors and is paid a surprising visit from the family next door. Joanie Shultz will direct.

Next is the U.S. premiere of Laura Wade’s Posh (Jan. 21–Feb. 27, 2016), about a war between classes, adolescent struggle for identity, and the battle for the status quo that occurs at an Oxbridge dining club. Jonathan Berry will direct.

Following is the Midwestern premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s The Few  (April 14–May 21, 2016), about a man who returns to his life after walking away from his lover and magazine about long distant truckers for four years. Brad Akin will direct.

Next is the U.S. premiere of Simon Stephens’s Wastwater (July 7–Aug. 13, 2016), about the consequences of decisions through three couples in an airport each on the precipice of choices. Robin Witt will direct.
