Foreman will continue to work with the school as the master teacher of the MFA program.

BLUE LAKE, CALIF.: Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre school director Ronlin Foreman will step down from his post, effective today. “In light of changing conditions within the school and Dell’Arte’s need for freedom to explore future options for training, I am stepping down as school director effective July 31, 2015,” said Foreman in a statement. “In this way, I can serve Dell‘Arte while maintaining fidelity to my point of view regarding pedagogical perspectives and my practices for theatre training.”

Dell’Arte is currently analyzing its future programming after receiving a grant from the James Irvine Foundation.

“Ronlin’s decision to step down as school director comes at a time when the organization is reconsidering many aspects of Dell’Arte, including the three training programs and our role as a producer of original ensemble theatre,” said producing director Michael Fields in a statement. “Ronlin has played a key and valuable role in the continued development of the school and the integrity of the MFA program.”

In addition to continuing his 20-year association with the school as master teacher, Foreman will be traveling to 10 countries with actor/Dell’Arte alumnus Ryan Musil to offer workshops, lectures, and a performance. The yearlong international tour, titled the RonlinWalkabout Project, will also include mask training and devising work. Dell’Arte is an affiliate of the project.

“Since its inception, Dell’Arte has promoted a concept of evolution for its students, faculty and staff,” said cofounder Jane Hill in a statement. “I believe there should be a continual conscious exploration, not just in adolescence, but in every stage of life, particularly for theatre artists. I am excited about the RonlinWalkabout adventure and look forward to sharing the results.”
