Red Bull Theatre Announces a Season of Scandal

A scandalous season of Jacobean tragedies, Restoration comedies, and new plays.

NEW YORK CITY: Red Bull Theatre has announced its 2015–16 season, including readings, comedies, dramas, and a new play festival.

The season begins with a benefit reading of George Etherege’s The Man of Mode, or Sir Fopling Flutter (Oct. 26), a Restoration comedy about wreaking havoc on London’s elite. Michael Urie will star and Jesse Berger will direct.

Next will be Thomas Middleton and William Rowley’s The Changeling (Dec. 26–Jan. 24, 2016), a Jacobean tragedy about a woman determined to follow her heart. Berger will direct.

Following will be Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The School for Scandal (April  8–May 8, 2016), about a man who returns home incognito after spending 17 years abroad  to test the true nature of his friends and family. Marc Vietor will direct.

Also part of the season will be the Revelation Readings series, one-night readings including works by John Marston, Cyril Tourneur, Ben Johnson, Thomas Middleton, Philip Massinger, William Shakespeare, Fanny Burney, and William Congreve.

The season will conclude with Scandal! the Sixth Annual New Short Play Festival (July 25).
