The ceremony honors artistic achievement Off-Off Broadway.

NEW YORK CITY: The Innovative Theatre Foundation (ITF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the Off-Off-Broadway community, announced the recipients of the 11th annual Innovative Theatre Awards at the Baruch Performing Arts Center on Monday. Top prizes went to Smith Street Stage, Inc., for their production of Much Ado About Nothing (Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Revival of a Play), and Theatre 4the People, for In Vestments (Outstanding Director, Outstanding Premiere Production of a Play).

Actor Jason Kravits (“The Practice”) hosted the ceremony, and playwright David Greenspan, composer Jon Goldstein, and director Igor Goldin were among the presenters.

The Innovative Theatre Awards were established in 2004 with the aim of strengthening the Off-Off-Broadway community and advancing public interest in the theatrical arts. Theatrical professionals, entertainment artists, and audience members determined the winners from a nominee pool of 145 individuals, 57 productions, and 55 theatre companies.
