Playwright Starts Online Magazine, Page By Page

The online Patreon community for theatre artists and patrons has new subscription pricing and benefits.

Page By Page, a new resource and monthly online magazine designed to provide resources and an insider look at the theatre industry, which began late in 2018, has announced an expansion of its subscriber benefits and tiered pricing for the 2019-20 season.

Page By Page energizes artists so they are excited and equipt to make new work, and thrills theatre lovers who want an inside look at the process,” said playwright Jacqueline Goldfinger in a statement. “I founded Page By Page because I grew up in a rural area where theatre knowledge, especially about current theatrical practices, was extremely limited. When I reached college, and later in the professional world, I felt significantly behind my peers in understanding theatre today, how it is made, and how the industry works; both my artistry and my professional life suffered.”

The online magazine (sample here) features contributions by professional artists from across the country, including administrators, dramaturgs, playwrights, and more. Page By Page currently has 152 subscribers. The pricing for the magazine now ranges from $4 to $16 per month, and the new benefits include a Writing Partner Match program, discounts on theatre resources, social media support, and more. Page By Page is also offering a special end-of-summer promotion through the month of August: New subscribers will receive the September double issue, in addition to the back issues of June, July, and August.

“I subscribe to Page By Page to keep myself and my students abreast of what’s happening in the playwriting world, from new opportunities to trends, from articles to biographies of important playwrights,” said theatre professor Jackie Rosenfeld in a testimonial. “It allows me, in a tiny town in East Texas, to connect with a larger community of artists, and strengthens both my knowledge of the theatre and my writing. I also love having a steady stream of writing prompts.”
