Offscript is a podcast occasionally produced by the editors of American Theatre.
The following podcast episode was recorded live at the offices of American Theatre‘s publisher, Theatre Communications Group, in New York City, where, on Sept. 18, the editors of American Theatre gathered for a live unveiling of our annual lists of the Top 10 Most-Produced Plays and Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights.
Then we’re treated to an excerpt from Lauren Yee’s Cambodian Rock Band, which is not only on the Top 10 Plays list but puts Yee in a rare category: She has not one but two plays on that list (the other is The Great Leap). Actors Alex Lydon, Orville Mendoza, and Daniel K. Isaac appear in this excerpt. Then Lauren herself stops by to talk with AT Senior Editor Diep Tran about her play and her career, which, like two-time Top 20 Playwrights list topper Lauren Gunderson, has largely been built at theatres outside New York.
