The scholarship will support emerging costume designers enrolled in a university or professional training program.
The annual conference will invite 20 playwrights to develop new works this summer.
Also cited were Noah Haidle’s ‘Birthday Candles’ and Jen Silverman’s ‘Witch,’ with the Osborn Award going to Spenser Davis’s ‘Plainclothes.’
The theatre will commission plays from graduates of University of California, San Diego’s playwriting program.
Graf won for her play ‘Exit Wounds,’ which explores the effect of a horrific tragedy on the perpetrator’s family.
The selected writers will develop their plays through workshops and public readings at the conference.
The two artists will be produced multiple times over a single season at the Off-Broadway theatre; Samuel D. Hunter, Lauren Yee, and collective the Mad Ones will join the Residency 5 program.
Selected participants will receive a TCG Conference Scholarship and a year of professional development opportunities.
Each playwright will receive an award of $50,000.
The artistic director of the Public Theater will be celebrated at a ceremony later this month.
