Carden, who joined the company in 1978 and has served as AD since 2007, steps aside to make room for the predominantly white company to make substantive changes.

The decision comes after the theatre’s reckoning with its all-white leadership and a desire to better serve its community.
As part of his duties, Page will oversee the revival of the Terrence McNally New Play award, which has not been awarded since 2015.
