7. If you’re a New York-based “Tempest” fan, you’re in luck. This season La MaMa is mounting three versions of Shakespeare’s play under the collective title, “Tempest 3: The Tide is Rising.” First up, and currently running, is a musical version, directed by Karin Coonrod and with music by Elizabeth Swados, featuring a multicultural cast (including Reg E. Cathey, above, as Prospero).
