HONOLULU: The Fingers Lakes Musical Theatre Festival in Auburn, N.Y., worked with Tim Rice to bring excerpts of the lyricist’s musical From Here to Eternity to Honolulu as part of the commemoration events of the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. The musical opened on London’s West End in 2013, and had its U.S. premiere at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival in 2016.
On Dec. 3, 22 Hawaiian singers performed the musical’s finale “The Boys of ‘41” at the Pacific Aviation Museum Gala. The group also performed “Movies on Waikiki Beach” on Dec. 4, and the song “December 7th Remembered” at a veterans banquet on Dec. 6.
