Nearly 100 Black theatres will receive 1- or 2-year grants, ranging in size from $10,000 to $150,000.
NicHi douglas, ChelseaDee Harrison, Nambi E. Kelley, and Christopher Rudd will enter into a second year in the program.
Harris will receive a $30,000 commission and a six-week residency in Florida.
The organization will also give 2020 fellow Emma Goidel a second year due to the pandemic.
Finalists for the two-year residency include Nikki Brake-Sillá and A.A. Brenner.
The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation and the Walder Foundation have awarded AAAA funds to support an executive director.
The first recipients are Ed Bullins, Constance Congdon, and Philip Kan Gotanda.
Still was recognized for his
series of plays ‘The Jack Plays.’
This year the annual award will be given to 20 playwrights in an effort to meet the immediate needs of writers.
The collaboration, named in honor of Harris’ grandparents, will offer two $50,000 commissions for new theatrical work.
