Company of Fools 2015–16 Season Features Durang, Letts and Shanley

The company celebrates its 20th season with a reading series and a lineup of award-winning plays.

HAILEY, IDAHO: Company of Fools has announced its 20th season, including plays by Christopher Durang, Tracy Letts and John Patrick Shanley.

The season starts with Durang’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (July 1–22), which was the most-produced play in America during the 2014–15 season. A riff on Chekhov’s work, the play follows a brother and sister who live peacefully in the Pennsylvania farmhouse where they grew up, until their movie star sister and her boy toy unexpectedly arrive. Gary C. Hopper will direct.

Next is Letts’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner August: Osage County (Sept. 30– Oct. 17), which John Moon will direct.

A Year With Frog and Toad (Dec. 16–Jan. 3, 2016) by Robert and Willie Reale will be the holiday show this year. John Glen will direct, which is based on children’s books by Arnold Lobel.

Following will be Outside Mullingar (Feb. 17–March 5, 2016) by Shanley.  Set in Ireland, the play tells the story of middle-aged Rosemary, who falls for her neighbor. Denise Simone will direct.

In addition, a reading series be offered, including Mauritius (Oct. 24) by Theresa Rebeck, Casa Valentina (Jan. 16, 2016) by Harvey Fierstein and Dear Elizabeth (March 16, 2016) by Sarah Ruhl. The series will include discussions on forgeries, gender roles and the lost art of letter writing.
