Jez Butterworth, Robert Horn, David Yazbek, and Heidi Schreck will be awarded at a private reception later this month.
The lineup includes modern classics, a holiday whodunit, and a new-play festival.
The 2019-20 will feature another play by Joshua Harmon, plus works by Theresa Rebeck and Tarell Alvin McCraney.
The 12 recipients will be recognized for their debut performances on and Off-Broadway this season.
Lee will start at the foundation in September, after serving for 18 years at the NEA.
Also slated for the mainstage are works by Tracy Letts, Karen Zacarías, Leslie Castay, Ian Hoch, Steve Yockey, and Pamela Davis-Noland.
A mainstage musical chronicling the life of Ethel Waters will be joined in the lineup by cabaret productions featuring music from the mid-20th century.
So far the theatre has received $17 million in commitments toward its $18.5 million goal.
Five of the six plays in the season were written by female playwrights, including Lynn Nottage, Jane Anderson, and Heather Raffo.
