Robert J. Farley to Depart Georgia Ensemble Theatre

The artistic director will step down from his role at the end of the company’s 2017-18 season.

ROSWELL, GA.: Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET) has announced that cofounder and artistic director Robert J. Farley will depart the company at the completion of the 2017-18 season. Associate artistic director Alan Kilpatrick will assume the role of artistic director in May of 2018.

“I am happy that GET is at a place where it is stable, vital, and operating with more performance and educational programs than at any time in our history,” said Farley in a statement. “Given that, plus the fact that I do have other goals in life outside of the theatre that I wish to explore before it is too late, I feel that this is a good chapter in time for me to retire from the theatre profession.”

Prior to joining GET in 1992, Farley served as the artistic director of both Alaska Repertory Theatre and the Alliance Theatre. Farley’s partner, GET cofounder Anita Allen-Farley will be staying on at the theatre as managing director.

In addition to his work at GET, Kilpatrick also works locally as an actor and director. “Passing the torch of artistic leadership to Mr. Kilpatrick will provide GET with one of the kindest and most skilled theatre artists working in Atlanta today,” said Farley in a statement.
