LA Stage Alliance Announces 2018 Ovation Award Winners

The awards celebrate theatre companies and artists in Southern California.

LOS ANGELES: The LA Stage Alliance presented the 28th annual Ovation Awards on Jan. 29 at the Ace Hotel in L.A. Thirty-five awards were presented to 19 different theatre companies in Southern California. The most honored companies were Geffen Playhouse, East West Players, Actor’s Co-op, the Echo Theater Company, Center Theatre Group, and Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition to the company awards, the Center Theatre Group has named live performance set and projection designer Hana Kim as the recipient of the 2017 Sherwood Award. Kim was awarded a $10,000 cash prize.

The Ovation Awards, established in 1989, are voted on by theatre professionals working in Los Angeles. This year’s eligibility period ran from Aug. 29, 2016 through Aug. 27, 2017.
