Center Theatre Group: See a Play for Free If You’re Under 25

The company’s new FreePlay program aims to offer just what it says.

LOS ANGELES: Center Theatre Group has announced the launch of the FreePlay program, which offers free tickets to productions at the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre to theatregoers 25 years old and younger. The tickets will be free at the box office, and there will be a $5 handling fee for ticket orders reserved online or by phone.

“Center Theatre Group’s mission focuses on introducing the largest possible audiences, from all across Los Angeles, to theatre,” said artistic director Michael Ritchie in a statement. “Through programs like FreePlay, we are making a direct effort to welcome new theatregoers by lowering any perceived barriers of our organization or live theatre overall. It’s imperative that we strive to create a more vibrant Los Angeles with a stronger cultural fabric that supports such accessible experiences.”

Reservations for the FreePlay program will be made available approximately two weeks before the first preview of each production. FreePlay reservations for Sweat and School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play are now available.
