Actors Theatre Announces Opportunities for Humana Festival

Actors Theatre is looking for guest speakers and will also be awarding festival passes to theatre professionals and artists.

LOUISVILLE: Actors Theatre of Louisville has announced two opportunities for participation in the 43rd Humana Festival of New American Plays this spring (March 1-April 17, 2019).

The theatre is looking for guests to contribute to Share the Spark, a curated program of presentations focused on the future of the American theatre field. An open call for proposals is now available and will be collected through Jan. 18, 2019. The selected speakers will share their five-minute visions at a public forum on Friday, April 5.

The theatre will also be awarding four Theatre Professionals Grant awards, complimentary passes for each weekend of the festival. The Theatre Professional Grant includes a ticket package, transportation to and from Louisville International airport on key weekends, invitations to events and panel discussions, and a Humana Festival gift. Practitioners working in small-budget theatres and freelance artists are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Jan. 11, 2019.

The Humana Festival, an annual new-play festival, has premiered more than 450 plays in its 43-year history.
