The VORTEX Announces FuturX Festival

The November festival will feature works from Avante Theatre Project, Teatro Vivo, and ProyectoTEATRO about the Latinx experience.

AUSTIN: The VORTEX has announced the lineup for FuturX Festival, a series of mostly virtual programs exploring Latinx identity in the 21st century. The VORTEX will collaborate with Avante Theatre Project, Teatro Vivo, and ProyectoTEATRO for the festival, which will take place online on Fridays and Saturdays between Nov. 6 and Nov. 21.

The festival is curated by Rudy Ramirez, artistic director of Avante Theatre Project and associate artistic director of the VORTEX. The lineup on view in the festival’s “online Laberinto” will feature original work by dozens of artists, including Florinda Bryant, Laura de la Fuente, Marina de la Fuente, Marina DeYoe-Pedraza, Krysta Gonzales, Lily Gonzalez, Siri Gurudev, Line 720, Lilli Lopez, Chola Magnolia, Jessica Peña, Eva Reyes, Gricelda Silva, Teatro Quarantine, and Tia Diosas.

The flagship performance of FuturX Festival 2020 will be ProyectoTEATRO’s Los Contemporáneos. The show will be performed live onstage at the VORTEX for six performances throughout the festival.
