Honolulu Theatre for Youth Announces New Membership

The company will offer accessible memberships to families and educators, plus a digital season of 5 shows.

HONOLULU: Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) has announced a virtual season of programming and a new membership model. The company will offer accessibility to HTY content for families, plus a free membership with classroom resources for educators.

Each month, HTY will release new creative content to individual and family members, including videos on social emotional learning, drama resources, and access to the company’s 30-minute television program The Hi Way for $10 per month. Members will also be able to receive discounts on classes and other online activities, and will have access to live events and in-person classes when the theatre reopens.

The company is also releasing a digital season of five plays, including some HTY classics reimagined for the screen. The season kicked off with HTY ensemble’s Da Holidays, a collection of short stories, sketches, and songs about the holiday season in Hawai’i available to members now. Da Holidays will also broadcast on network television in mid-December and will be the company’s first virtual field trip offering for schools through Dec. 19.

The Honolulu Theatre for Youth was founded in 1955, and provides theatre and drama education programs for young people.
