FREDERICK, M.D.: Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) has announced the establishment of the Teen Ensemble, a new pre-professional program for young performers. The program will offer young artists the chance to perform in a MET production.
“We are committed to fostering a dynamic and nurturing environment for young artists to flourish,” Zack Callis, MET’s education manager and the director of the Ensemble School, said in a statement. “We believe that the Teen Ensemble will be a transformative and unforgettable journey for all participants.”
The centerpiece of the Teen Ensemble will be a production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, based on the novels by Rick Riordan. Students will work with seasoned mentors to hone their performance skills throughout the rehearsal process, and will also have access to supplementary master classes. Master class topics may include vocal training, choreography, improvisation, and audition techniques.
The Teen Ensemble program will be open to students ages 13-18. No prior theatrical experience is required to audition. Auditions will be held Sept. 6 and 9. More information and audition registration is available here.
