Women in the Arts Garage for the 2014-15 Season

Florida theatre announces a slate featuring plays by Sarah Treem, Lauren Gunderson and Allison Gregory.

DELRAY BEACH, FLA.: The Theatre Arts Garage has announced its 2014-15 season, titled “A Celebration of Women’s Voices” and featuring three plays by female writers.

The How and the Why by Sarah Treem (In Treatment, The Affair) opens tonight and runs through Nov. 30. This play, about two scientists who discover a shared biological history and its implications for their research, had its premiere at the McCarter Theatre in 2011.

Lauren Gunderson’s I and You, which took this year’s Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association new play award and was published in full in American Theatre’s July 2014 issue, is about two teens cramming to finish a presentation on Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass and bonding in unusual and surprising ways. It will run Jan. 16-Feb. 8, 2015.

The final play in the season, running Mar. 6-29, 2015, is Allison Gregory’s Uncertain Terms, about a woman tying up loose ends with an ex-husband and her mother’s home.

The Arts Garage, a multi-arts center in Delray Beach area that has been offering theatre on its mainstage since 2006, was the winner of the first ever People’s Choice award from the Knight Foundation.
