‘LoveMusik’ Kicks Off Bluegrass Opera’s 2015–16 season

The Kentucky company will present the regional premiere of the Weill/Lenya bio-musical, as well as two other new tuners.

LEXINGTON, KY.: The Bluegrass Opera has announced its next season of musical productions.

It begins with LoveMusik (Nov. 13–21) will make its regional debut. The show, based letters on between composer Kurt Weill and his wife, performer Lotte Lenya, was written by Alfred Uhry and features music by Weill.

Next on the roster is A Glorious Day (Jan. 15–23), adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s Getting Married, with music and lyrics by Julie Mandel and book by Lila Bernstein. The Bluegrass Opera production marks the show’s first full staging following workshops in New York City.

Closing out the season is the world premiere of artistic director Lorne Dechtenburg’s DayTrader (May. 13–21). The production focuses on a handful of investors who only begin to get to know one another after the terrifying events of 9/11.
