LOS ANGELES: LA STAGE Alliance held its annual Ovation Awards on Monday, Nov. 9 at the Ahmanson Theatre. The biggest production winner of the night was Spring Awakening from Deaf West Theatre, which received six awards. Center Theatre Group was the most recognized theatre company, winning seven awards for various productions (Chavez Ravine, The Price, and Luna Gale). A total of 35 awards were given to 18 theatre companies.
In addition to the competitive award, CTG also presented the 2015 Sherwood Award for innovative and adventurous artists to multimedia innovator Miwa Matreyek, who will receive $10,000.
“What a night!” exclaimed LA STAGE Alliance Board Chair Brian Kite in a statement. “It is always a thrill to gather the Los Angeles theatre community together to honor excellence.
