SALT LAKE CITY: Salt Lake Acting Company (SLAC) and the David Ross Fetzer Foundation for Emerging Artists have announced Rae Binstock as the recipient of the 2018 Davey Foundation Theatre Grant for her play A Land of No Mercy.

Binstock’s play was chosen from 30 submissions by a panel of 13 theatre professionals. It will go through a week-long developmental workshop at the Sale Lake Acting Company this summer, with an artistic team of all locals. The workshop will end with a public staged reading at SLAC on July 31.

Binstock lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., and is a member of New Perspective Theatre’s Short Play Lab. She is a semifinalist at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference and the recipient of a 2017 artistic residency with the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico. Binstock received her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.

The Davey Foundation was created in honor of David Ross Fetzer. The grant is available to artists age 35 and under to aid in the development of new theatre and film projects.
