CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OHIO: Dobama Theatre has announced that Trevor Wise will be the organization’s new managing director, replacing Julie Friedman, who is leaving the position in June to travel and work abroad. Wise and Friedman will work together in a transitional period during the month of May. Wise’s arrival will also align with the start of Dobama’s 60th anniversary season.
“I am thrilled that Trevor will be joining Dobama to help lead the theatre at this exciting moment in the theatre’s history,” artistic director Nathan Motta said in a statement. “Trevor is one of the most talented new leaders in the field, and his training, knowledge, and personality make him the ideal person to guide Dobama as we move forward towards a promising future and remarkable new possibilities. I look forward to introducing Trevor to Dobama’s dedicated supporters and the incredible greater Cleveland community.”
Following a national search, Wise was unanimously selected by Dobama’s board of directors. Currently Wise is working as the donor relations manager at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Mass. Wise previously worked with Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pa., and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Conn.
“I am honored and thrilled to be joining the Dobama Theatre team as it enters its 60th anniversary season,” Wise said in a statement. “I look forward to working with Nathan, the board, and the amazing staff as we move Dobama forward and strengthen the vibrant theatre that has become synonymous with Off-Broadway Theatre in Cleveland.”
