NEW YORK CITY: The Moss Hart and Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative has announced Wendy Graf as the first Gold Medallion winner for her play Exit Wounds.

From an initial submission of more than 1,000 plays for the first Hart New Play Initiative, Exit Wounds was among the four plays selected as Bronze Medallion winners. The four plays each received a reading at NYC’s 59E59 Theaters last summer as part of the Jeremy Nussbaum New Play Reading Series. Following this, Exit Wounds and Suzanne Bradbeer’s Confederates were chosen as the Silver Medallion winners. The two plays were then produced in rotating rep at Grove Theater Center in Burbank, Calif., in October-November 2018. Emerging the Gold Medallion winner, Graf’s play will be given its Off-Broadway premiere on a to-be-announced date.

A story of healing, hope, and compassion, Exit Wounds looks behind the sensationalist headline of a horrific tragedy to explore its effect on three generations of the perpetrator’s family.

Other plays by Wendy Graf include Unemployed Elephants—A Love Story, Please Don’t Ask About Becket, and All American Girl.
