‘Ferryman,’ ‘Hadestown,’ and ‘Tootsie’ Among Drama Desk Winners

At the 2019 ceremony honoring Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway, the biggest winners were Broadway shows.

NEW YORK CITY: The 64th annual Drama Desk Awards was held at the Town Hall on June 2. The awards recognizes Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway during the 2018-2019 New York theatre season in the same competitive categories. The biggest winners of the night, with four awards each, were The FerrymanHadestown, and Tootsie, all currently running on Broadway.

The Drama Desks were founded in 1949 by New York Times arts reporter Sam Zolotow, Edith Oliver of The New Yorker, and New York Post critic Vernon Rice, among others.
