John Moore Receives Actors’ Equity’s Lucy Jordan Award

The humanitarian award recognizes Moore’s support of the Denver-area theatre community.

DENVER: Actors’ Equity Association has named John Moore the recipient of the Lucy Jordan Award. The humanitarian award is given in honor of the late Lucy Jordan,  a former Equity staff member, and recognizes a member of Equity’s Western Region who shows support for actors and stage managers.

Erin Joy Swank, John Moore, Doug Carfrae, and Gail Gabler at the Lucy Jordan Award ceremony last month.

“John’s support of the Denver theatre community runs deep,” said Equity’s Western Regional vice president, Doug Carfrae, in a statement. “Through the Denver Actors Fund, he has marshalled resources to create a safety net for the workers in our sometimes-precarious industry. He truly embodies the spirit of Lucy Jordan.”

Moore, a senior arts journalist at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, founded the nonprofit Denver Actors Fund to assist local actors with medical needs. The Fund has distributed approximately $375,000 to Denver-area theatre artists in need.

Moore was presented with the award at a Denver-area Equity meeting last month. Actors’ Equity is now accepting nominations for next year’s Lucy Jordan Award.
