Working Theater Announces 35th Season with Off-Broadway Premiere

The season will feature the Off-Broadway premiere of Dan Hoyle’s timely ‘Border People’.

NEW YORK: Working Theater has announced its 2020 season, a celebration of its 35th anniversary.

The season will begin with the Off-Broadway premiere of Border People (Jan. 25-Feb. 23, 2020), written and performed by Dan Hoyle. The play examines what compels people to cross borders, and is based on interviews with immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. The production will tour throughout the five boroughs after its Off-Broadway run. Kel Haney will direct.

The season will also feature The Best of Theaterworks!, a collection of the best six short plays developed from the past 19 years of Working’s playwriting and performance classes. The production will run Off-Broadway in February 2020.

Throughout the year, Working will continue its Five Boroughs/One City Initiative to create theatre across New York City, in addition to classes, educational performances, and a reading series.

Founded in 1985, Working Theater creates theatre for, about, and with working people, championing accessible and affordable productions.
